Tips for planning your wedding

If you are getting married and plan to travel to your reception by horse and carriage, remember that this type of horsepower travels slower so consider what your guests will do while they wait for you to arrive.

Always cut the bottom tier of the cake, otherwise you may press the lower tiers together … not a good look!

If you plan tossing your bouquet to your female guests, make sure there are no thorns.

If the budget is tight plan your wedding ceremony later in the day and the meal during the evening, so just one meal instead of a wedding breakfast and an evening reception.

When organising all the things you want to have on each table use a shoebox for each table…and it is a great excuse to buy more shoes!

For a very special table plan, put each table on a postcard sized card and attach to a really nice mirror in a frame. The cards can be removed later and the mirror kept by the bride and groom as a reminder of their wedding reception.

When planning your table plan use paper plates and post it notes to make moving ‘people’ around in the planning stages easy. This way you don’t have to rewrite it when you discover that two members of the family that don’t speak to each other are sitting next to each other!

Although the event ran well beyond the allotted time we did not feel pressured to speed it up! You did particularly well to serve 80 people so efficiently from our domestic kitchen. We found you and your staff most obliging and attentive to the needs of our guests.

Top Tips
Browned off!
  • If you have half an avocado left, leave the stone in. This stops the flesh browning so quickly when stored in the fridge.
  • Stop cut apples turning brown by sprinkling them with lemon juice.
